Why the Right Ski Boots Matter

Your ski boots are the heart of your gear. They connect your body to the snow and have a huge impact on comfort, control, and enjoyment on the piste. The right pair keeps you skiing longer, performing better, and feeling pain-free, even in poor conditions.

Match Your Ability, Not Just Your Size

Boots are built to cater to different skill levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert. A soft-flexing boot helps new skiers feel confident, while experienced skiers need stiffer boots for precision and response .
Pro Tip: Be honest about your level. Your fitter at The Fitting Mill will guide you to a boot that supports your skiing style while still offering comfort.

Fit by Foot Profile, Not Shoe Size

Ski boots are measured in Mondopoint (your foot length in centimetres), plus width (last) and volume (instep height). These factors matter more than style or colour.

  • A snug fit in length, width, and volume creates better control.

  • Too roomy leads to heel lift and loss of performance.

  • Too tight causes pressure and pain.

  • Our experts analyse your foot shape in detail, ensuring the right boot profile and volume match

Flex Rating Explained

Flex indicates how stiff the boot is: 70–80 for beginners, 100–120 for intermediates, and 130+ for advanced/expert skiers.
A boot that’s too stiff can cause discomfort, while one that’s too soft lacks control. With professional guidance, you’ll strike the right balance between support and comfort.
